Why shake roofs need something different
Deck stains are made for boards you walk on. Shake roofs are thicker, rougher and far more exposed, and after years of sun they dry out and turn brittle. TWP 200 is a high-solids (94%+) formula: the oil soaks into the dry wood to restore flexibility, while the tinted iron oxide pigments give an even, translucent color with good UV protection. It is one coat and forms no film.

Coverage

Dry time
- At least 24-48 hours at 68°F
- Touch-dry in about 24 hours above 70°F
- Cold, humidity and heavy coats slow it down

How to apply TWP 200
- Wet down plants and the area around where you are working.
- Clean the wood with Restore-A-Deck or another wood cleaner to remove gray fibers, mill glaze and old coatings - don't let the cleaner dry on the wood.
- Rinse thoroughly at about 1500 psi, holding the tip roughly 8 inches from the surface.
- Let the wood dry 36-48 hours.
- Sand if needed: 80-120 grit on vertical surfaces, 60-80 grit on decks, always with the grain.
- Stain within 1-2 weeks on horizontal surfaces or 3-4 weeks on siding, before dirt and mildew return.
- Brush with a natural-bristle stain brush, or spray (pump or airless with a .011″-.015″ tip at 1200 psi) and back-brush. Pads and rollers speed up big areas. Shop brushes, pads and sprayers.
